The Estonian medicinal products market, fourth quarter of 2009

The Estonian medicinal products market was 822 million EEK (52,5 million EUR) in wholesale prices in the fourth quarter of  2009.

The sales divide amongst general pharmacies, hospital pharmacies and other institutions (generally state- and scientific institutions). In total the sales to general pharmacies were 634 million EEK (40,5 million EUR) in the fourth quarter of 2009. To the hospital pharmacies medicinal products worth 150 million EEK (8,3 million EUR) were sold.

In addition to human medicinal products market the State Agency of Medicines compiles statistical reports about veterinary products market.

The Estonian veterinary medicinal products market was 36,9 million EEK (2,4 million EUR) in wholesale prices in the fourth quarter of  2009. In the fourth quarter of 2009 almost 65% of veterinary medicines were sold to the veterinary doctors or to the agricultural companies represented by veterinary doctor, 29% of veterinary medicines were sold to other institutions, 4% to the veterinary pharmacies and 2% to the general pharmacies.
