The Estonian veterinary medicinal products market was approximately 133,6 million EEK in 2009 (in wholesaler prices). There were 15 wholesalers who sold veterinary medicinal products directly to retail and veterinary pharmacies, to veterinary doctors and other institutions.
All the wholesalers report their drug sale data to the State Agency of Medicines 4 times a year. The reports include the following data for each product: ATC code, ingredients, trade name, pharmaceutical form, strength, package size and the manufacturer. The sales data are presented in monetary value and by unit of volume (number of packages).
From the data presented different statistical reports can be made using a special computer program.

In 2009 almost 75% of veterinary medicines were sold directly to the veterinary doctors or to the agricultural companies represented by veterinary doctor. 17% of veterinary medicines were sold to other institutions, 5% to the veterinary pharmacies and 3% to the retail pharmacies.
