The European Medicines Agencies Co-operation on Legal and Legislative Issues (EMACOLEX) was launched by the Member States and transformed into a working group by the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) to support the efforts of the European Medicines Regulatory Network (EMRN) with regard to human and veterinary medicines. By means of dialogue and cooperation, EMACOLEX will build knowledge, trust and confidence between legal staff and others involved in legal matters to ensure the best legal assistance on EU level and vis-à-vis the individual National Competent Authorities. EMACOLEX is a discussion forum where representatives exchange views on legal and related issues to gain an insight and define common principles to be applied throughout the European Medicines Regulatory Network and in handling national issues.

The members of EMACOLEX are lawyers, legal experts and regulatory experts of National Competent Authorities, the European Medicines Agency and the European Commission. EMACOLEX is chaired by the Member State holding the EU presidency at the time of the meeting.

EMACOLEX meets at least twice a year. The meetings are planned and organised by the National Competent Authority of the Member State holding the EU presidency. For Estonia, this is the State Agency of Medicines.

The meeting of the working group European Medicines Agencies Co-operation on Legal and Legislative Issues (EMACOLEX) will take place on 26-27 October 2017.
