    The Estonian medicinal products market, fourth quarter of 2010

    The Estonian medicinal products market was 836 million EEK (53 million EUR) in wholesale prices in the fourth quarter of 2010. Compared to the fourth quarter in 2009, the turnover of the medicinal products increased 2,6%.

    The sales divide amongst general pharmacies, hospital pharmacies and other institutions (generally state- and scientific institutions). In total the sales to general pharmacies was 629 million EEK (40 million EUR) in the fourth quarter of 2010. To the hospital pharmacies medicinal products worth 178 million EEK (11 million EUR) were sold.

    The Estonian veterinary medicinal products market was 40 million EEK (2,6 million EUR) in wholesale prices in the fourth quarter of 2010, which is 8,6% more than in the fourth quarter of 2009. Almost 93% of veterinary medicines were sold to the veterinary doctors or to the agricultural companies represented by a veterinary doctor, 3% to the veterinary pharmacies, 2% to the general pharmacies and 2% of veterinary medicines were sold to other institutions (generally state- and scientific institutions).

    State Agency of Medicines compiles the overview of the medicinal products market based on the reports of the wholesalers.
